Creating your organization

This is the very first step, before anything else in these guides. It takes about a minute and gives you your own PoultryDesk workspace at {slug}.poultrydesk.com. If someone already invited you to an existing organization, skip this page - open your invite link and get started in 30 minutes instead.

Who does this

The person who signs up becomes the Owner of the new organization. The Owner holds the widest access and sets up locations, team, roles, and billing. You can invite everyone else later, so one person signs up first.

Before you start

You need two things:

  • An email address you can receive mail on.
  • A name for your organization (for example "Wanjiku Poultry"). You can change the display name later, but not the subdomain, so pick the subdomain with care.

You do not need a credit card. Signing up starts a 14-day free trial.

Sign up

Go to poultrydesk.com and choose Get started (or open poultrydesk.com/signup directly). The page is split into Your operation and Owner account.

Your operation

  • Organization name. The name your farm or business trades under. It appears across the app and on documents like invoices.
  • Subdomain. Your permanent web address, shown as {slug}.poultrydesk.com. PoultryDesk suggests one from your organization name, and you can edit it. Use only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens, 3 to 40 characters. It must start with a letter and must not end with a hyphen. As you type, an Available or Taken indicator confirms whether the address is free. A short list of reserved words (such as app, api, www, admin) is blocked. The subdomain is fixed once your organization is created and cannot be changed later, so confirm it is right before you continue.
  • Country. Sets your currency, time zone, and regional defaults. You can fine-tune these afterwards in settings.
  • Operation type. Broilers, Layers, Hatchery, or a mixed operation. This seeds sensible defaults for your first flock or egg set. Choose Mixed operation if you run more than one of these.
  • Operation size. The flock-size band you operate in, from under 100 birds up to 50,000 or more. It tailors your setup guidance and nothing else.

Owner account

  • Email address. You sign in with this, and it receives account mail.
  • Password. At least 8 characters.

Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then choose Create organization.

What happens next

PoultryDesk creates your organization, your private workspace, and your Owner account, then starts your 14-day free trial. You are taken to the sign-in page on your own subdomain. Sign in there once, and you land on the Get started checklist to begin setup.

  • Creating an account does not charge you. If you picked a paid plan on the way in, you are guided to review it under Billing - the recurring price and frequency are shown, and you accept recurring billing separately. See Plans and billing.
  • The trial badge stays visible in the app while your trial runs, with reminders before it ends.
